While all double glazing is more efficient than single glazing. Pilkington energiKare is more than twice as efficient, when compared to normal double glazing. Choosing Pilkington energiKare will increase the energy efficiency of your home, reduce your carbon footprint by lowering your home’s CO2 emissions and could save you as much as £20,000 over 10 years on your heating bills.

EnergiKare incorporates two Pilkington glass products - "K" and OptiWhite

Pilkington "K" Glass has a microscopic Low Emissity Coating on one face. The coating is a poor radiatior of energy and when "K" Glass is selected as the inner pane of a Double Glazed Unit, the heat energy from inside (short wave radiation) is inhibited from radiating accross the cavity, instead reflecting the heat back into the room, substantially reducing the overall heat loss of the room.

OptiWhite is purer than normal glass due to a reduced Iron content. This makes OptiWhite clearer and when selected as the outer pane of a Double Glazed Unit, increases the level of Solar Gain energy (long wave radiaton) attracted by the "K" glass to travel through the Double Glazed Unit, creating additional heat gain for the room.

The energy efficiency of EnergiKare makes it the ideal choice for your Double Glazing. By making the inner pane of your glazing much warmer, cold spots are eliminated, giving you more usable floor space within your rooms.  Its superior insulation keep your home warmer, which means you can turn down your thermostat and still remain comfortable, resulting in considerable savings on heating bills.

Building Regulation Compliance
Aiming to improve the thermal effeciency of all buildings, the Northern Ireland Building Regulations (Part F,2006), set out new mandatory requirements for the compulsory implementation of Low Emissivity Glass (Low E) within both New and Replacement Windows. EnergiKare Double Glazed Units provide the simple solution to Building Regulation Compliance.
